New Horizons - Original Artwork

My first painting of 2026 came with its own lesson about beginnings. Created whilst Australia is in holiday mode without my art teacher to guide me, this piece became a metaphor for the year ahead - stepping into new territory, trusting my own vision, meeting challenges with courage rather than certainty. As I worked through the difficulties of capturing those luminous turquoise waters and golden light without my usual support, I realized that's exactly what a new year asks of us: to face new horizons with faith, to embrace the creative challenge of becoming who we're meant to be. Each brushstroke was an act of trust, each colour choice a small leap into the unknown. This painting reminds me that growth happens not in our comfort zones, but when we stand before a blank canvas - or a new year - and dare to create something we've never created before.
